The Roaches and Hen Cloud provide a beautiful day of walking along gritstone edges. These edges were formed millions of years ago by a river delta depositing eroded mountain material from the north.
The edge continues down to Luds Church, a massive landslide in the bedrock.
Said to be a meeting place for the Lollards, who were followers of John Wycliffe, a church reformer during the 15th century. It’s also thought to be setting for the medieval poem, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
