A beautiful warm sunny day, very apt for the first day of spring. Starting at Nether End – Baslow, the walk took us through delightful young birch woodland all the way to Gardom’s Edge. Stopping to marvel at the prehistoric stone artwork & enclosures, before moving on to Birchen Edge and Nelson’s Monument, one of the iconic landmarks of this moor.
A short walk along Birchen Edge, we dropped down and made our way to White Edge to see the herd of Red Deer, we weren’t disappointed. Together with Kestrels hunting, Curlews calling and Skylarks chatting away, it felt spring had truly arrived.
